Find out if you are a good candidate for Unplugging the Thumb program.
1. Are you able to be a co-director with your child, helping as you are needed, but not being controlling or demanding?
2. Are you willing to set aside a few minutes of private time daily for ten days with your child without distractions?
3. Are you willing to let your child make the important decision to quit?
4. Are you able to gently let your child know that you have faith in his/her decision and ability to quit?
5. Are you willing to follow through with the program as recommended?
If you answered yes to all 5 of the questions, or if you are confident that you can make the necessary changes to be able to say “yes” to all of them, then you ARE a candidate for Unplugging the Thumb
If you honestly cannot refrain from being overly controlling or if you aren’t able to set aside a small amount of private time daily for ten days in a row with your child, then you should not purchase the parent’s edition of the program at this time unless there is another adult in the family who can follow through for the ten days. If the timing is not ideal for you, then a professional might be the person of choice to help you and your child to eliminate the sucking habit. There is now the Therapist’s Edition available to speech pathologists, dental/medical professionals, and mental health/family counselors so they can provide you with Unplugging The Thumb should you choose to use their services. If you are currently working with any of the above professionals or are considering doing so, you can direct them to our online store and tell them to purchase the Therapist’s Edition.
